Veterans Benefits Banking Program
Become A Participating Bank or Credit Union
Taking the next steps toward becoming a proud participant in the Veterans Benefits Banking Program (VBBP) is easy and beneficial for both your institution and Veterans.
Neither VA nor AMBA endorses any particular banks, credit unions, products or services, or requires Veterans or other beneficiaries to use them.
The VBBP Commitment
Offer a low-to-no-cost checking account (no monthly maintenance fees) and no minimum balance, to a VA benefit recipient (Veteran, beneficiary, caregiver) who brings a monthly Direct Deposit to the institution. If there is a minimum Direct Deposit or nominal fee*, details will be required as part of the financial institution description.
Offer assistance to a VA benefit recipient (Veteran, beneficiary, caregiver) who does not currently qualify to open an account. At the financial institution’s discretion, this assistance can be provided through financial products, education, and/or counseling.
*Any credit union must disclose the share account amount due at account opening and other share account requirements as part of the financial institution description.
Taking the next steps toward becoming a proud participant in the Veterans Benefits Banking Program (VBBP) is easy and beneficial for both your institution and Veterans.
Participating is free! VBBP is dedicated to collaboration and support, and there’s no cost for banks and credit unions to join the program.

You’re asked to provide:
- Physical branch locations: Provide a list of states, territories, and (if applicable) countries where your financial institution has physical branches.
- A 180-word description: Craft a succinct and engaging 180-word description of your bank’s involvement in VBBP. This description will spotlight your dedication to serving Veterans’ financial needs.
- Your URL and logo: Along with the completed commitment form, include your financial institution’s logo, and URL that links to either your dedicated landing page for VBBP or the product page that outlines the benefits Veterans can access through your bank. If you plan to customize a landing page, no worries – you can provide it later. Once received, we’ll promptly add your bank to the VBBP site.
Your VBBP Package
Upon your inclusion in the VBBP, we’ll send you the comprehensive VBBP package containing relevant verbiage for your website, marketing materials, the official VBBP logo, and a participant badge.
